Rock 2 Rock, Lets Rock, is a combination of beach music festival and sunset beach run finishing with fireworks. We want to encourage all ages and abilities to get active on the beach so have a 2k or 5k run available, or you can run both.
Before the run we have some amazing music artists performing and once the sunset run is complete, we have an amazing 9 piece band performing finishing with a fantastic fireworks display!
There are two main types of tickets available – ‘Running & Arena Pass’ and ‘Arena Only Pass’. Both of these give access to the Arena, which is the only area where you can see and hear the stage. These can be purchased from the sign up / tickets page.
Runners under the age of 8 must be accompanied by an adult, so for these runners there is a join ticket which combines the adult and junior ticket together.
If you have children under the age of 6 they are welcome to come but can not run. You can purchase U6 junior arena passes when you sign up (only available when an adult signs up)
The unique attraction of Rock 2 Rock is that your running pass allows you to take part in either or both of the running events (2k – 5k). You don’t have to decide before the event but simply run what you like on the day.
Yes. Our partners Watergate Bay Hotel have it all in hand, their chefs are fired up ready to rock with you, filling your plates with the best they can muster! – Bring cash with you to buy food and drink!
We understand that things don’t always go to plan, so we offer the following options:
Refund- Full refunds will be available within 14 days of purchase, following this we are unable to offer refunds.
NB: Refunds will not be issued if you have redeemed any promotional codes gifted as part of entry.
Transfer – You can transfer/gift your place to someone else at no cost by following the guidelines on your confirmation email. This service is available up to the start of the race. Please note that if your race number has already been sent out, you may need to arrange to collect it from whoever has gifted you a place.
Can I defer?- Unfortunately you can not defer from this event in 2019.
Yes this is no problems providing you’ve transferred your place following the guidelines on your confirmation email. If you have not transferred your place following these guidelines, then you can not run for medical and legal reasons, as in an emergency we will not know who you are.
Deadline to receive your race number by post:
If you sign up before the 20th June you will receive your entry by post. You can expect your number to arrive by the 25th June.
Deadline to pick up your race number on the day:
If you enter after the 20th June you will have to pick up your number at the event from our registration gazebo located next to the main toilet block
Online entries will be open until an hour before the event, IF THE EVENT IS NOT SOLD OUT there will be an option to purchase places in cash from the registration gazebo on race day open 10am – 8pm
If there are tickets left then yes of course – Registration will be open to purchase places from 10am on the day on a first come first served basis. CASH ONLY!!!
Arena passes will be available until 8pm from Registration Studio. This will be located half way down the slipway to the beach, just look out for the flags! – CASH ONLY!
There is no need to change distance as all runners will be entered into both distances, you can decide on the day what you want to do. You have a choice of doing just the 2k, just the 5k or the 2k followed by the 5k. Please note that you will only get one medal!

There are an abundance of great places to stay around Cornwall farm camping, to B&B’s to hotels, but we recommend booking early!
There are several car parks situated in close proximity to Watergate Bay that can be used for the event.
We encourage everyone to run for our charity partner, Surfers Against Sewage, which is an amazing cause and helps protect our amazing beaches for generation to come. Of course if you have a charity close to your heart and wish to raise money for them this is fine.
All those finishing will receive a Rock 2 Rock medal when crossing the finish line. Those who choose to run both events will only receive ONE medal per person. If you are running the 2k you will receive your medal when you cross the line and a stamp on your hand, indicating that you have already had your medal. If you choose to run the 5k later in the evening the finish line crew will know and not present you with a second medal. The reason for this is so that we can make the events totally flexible and have enough medals for one each.
You must be at least 6 years old to take part. Runners under 8 years old MUST be accompanied by an adult and purchase a joint adult and junior ticket. Please see guidelines below:
1, You must be 6 yrs or above on race day
2, You must have completed your chose distance twice before the event and you are comfortable with this chosen distance
3, You must be accompanied by a parent or guardian AT ALL TIMES before, during and after the race. The accompanying adult must also be officially entered for the event.
4, You must have read and understood the declaration upon booking
If you have children under 6 years old that you want to bring along you can purchase a junior U6 arena pass when you sign up.
Adult tickets are defined as any runner/spectator that is 16 or above on event day
You are very welcome to run in bare feet as the routes are on compact wet sand and have various wet parts too. ORA events take no responsibility for injuries incurred.
Both the 2k and 5k routes are entirely on compact wet sand with some small areas of shallow water that may have to be crossed. The use of wheelchairs is fine, providing they are suitable to use on the beach. We advise you to get in contact before to ensure any questions are answered. (we are unable to supply wheelchairs)
The routes will have marshals to support you on your run and a full race briefing before each event outlining the route that should be taken.
The Rock 2 Rock event is slightly different regarding prizes, there are of course prizes for 1st place male and female for both the 2k and the 5k, these winning times will be selected via Gun Time from the official FR System results as per UKA guidelines.
However, the main prizes are up for grabs for anyone who crosses the line! It does matter if you are first or last, you are in for a chance to win! All you have to do is cross that line!
Although not recommended, personal stereos, IPods & mp3 players can be used at the 2019 Rock 2 Rock Event. Please read the following advice:
‘The Rock 2 Rock Team follow UKA standards and strongly advise that you DO NOT wear in ear headphones or use audio devices during the race for your own safety. However, we endorse the use of Aftershokz and similar bone conduction headphones as these provides a safe solution allowing participants to hear their surroundings as well as their music. In 2019 although NOT RECOMMENDED, there will be no disqualification for use of audio devices’.
Accompanying cyclists in the race is not permitted due to the safety of fellow runners and beach users. For safety reasons child buggies and dogs are not permitted to accompany runners either. The event includes loud music and fireworks so we would advise not to bring your furry friends to the event.
We have a baggage area where you can leave one bag if you are running in any of the events during the evening. When you receive your Race Pack you will find a baggage sticker in your pack, simply fix to your bag and hand it to the team in the baggage area. When you return this number corresponds to your race number and they will return your bag.
