What is Rock 2 Rock Let's Rock?

Rock 2 Rock Let’s Rock is a combination of a beach music festival and sunset beach run finishing with fireworks. We want to encourage all ages and abilities to get active on the beach so have a Junior 200m – 1 mile -3k – 5k – 10k events available.

Before the run we have some amazing music artists performing and once the sunset run is complete, we have an amazing band performing finishing with a fantastic environmentally friendly fireworks display!

When are entries available?

Entries will open in January 2023 until the event is Sold Out. Grab your place today and be part of an amazing evening on the Isle of Wight next summer.

Can I run more than one distance?

You are very welcome to run with your children in the Junior events to make it a real memorable experience for all. Adults will not need to enter Junior Races to take part.

Due to the timings of the other events its not possible to run more than one of the main events (3k, 5k and 10k).

Is there food and drink on site?

Yes, there will be a selection of food and beverage outlets on the beach and in the Event Village.

Refund/deferral policy

We understand that things don’t always go to plan, so we offer the following options:

Refund- Full refunds will be available within 14 days of purchase, following this we are unable to offer refunds.
NB: Refunds will not be issued if you have redeemed any promotional codes gifted as part of entry.

Can I defer?- Unfortunately you can not defer from this event in 2023.

Can someone else compete using my race number?

Yes this is no problems providing you’ve transferred your place. If you have not transferred your place, then you can not run for medical and legal reasons, as in an emergency we will not know who you are.

Are there entries on the day?

If there are tickets left then yes of course – a Registration Gazebo will be in the Event Village open to purchase places from 10am on the day on a first come first served basis. CASH ONLY!!!

Can I change my race distance and what are my options if I can't run?

We understand that sometimes things happen and you may not be able to run, therefore we have 4 transfer options for you shown below:

1. Transfer – You can transfer/gift your place to someone else and make amends if needed. This service will be avaiable 2 weeks prior to the event with all changes being made at this point. We will contact all runners signed up with all the details so if you have a change please don’t worry we’ll get this sorted for you.

2. Transfer your entry to another race distance – This service will be avaiable 2 weeks prior to the event with all changes being made at this point. We will contact all runners signed up with all the details so if you have a change please don’t worry we’ll get this sorted for you. There is no charge for this service however there are no refunds for those changing to a lower distance. For those changing up a distance you will simply pay the difference in entry cost.

3, Transfer to the Virtual Event – If you want to run but can’t make the day, or are injured and just need a bit more time to recover, why not transfer to the virtual event, this way you can still get your finishers medal and T shirt. We’d love it if you came down to the event on the day too to soak up the atmosphere, get inspired and cheer on the other runners! You must transfer/enter the Virtual event before the 7th July 2023, however the deadline to complete the Virtual Run is 31st December 2023. This option has been very popular with runners who pick up last minute injuries, but still want to complete the event.

The main Event Village is located on Appley Beach, Ryde. All runs Start and finish from the same point. The full address is shown below:

What time do the running events take place?

Race start times will be:

6:30pm – Junior 200m

7:00pm – Junior 1 mile

7:45pm – 3km – 5km – 10km

Where can I stay for the event?

Our event partner “South Island Seven’s” have a conveniently located Camp Site just 6 minutes from the Start/Finish area on Appley Beach. Check out all the details by clicking on the link below:

If you’d rather stay further afield there are an abundance of great places around Ryde and across the wider Isle of Wight. From camping to B&B’s and hotels theres plenty of choice but we recommend booking early as its a busy time of year!

Can I run for a charity?

Absolutely, you can run for whoever you like!

Do we get a medal and goodies on the finish line?

All those finishing will receive a Rock 2 Rock Let’s Rock 2023 Medal and the following when crossing the finish line:

How old do I have to be to compete?

You must be at least 8 years old to take part in the 5k and MUST be accompanied by an adult so need to purchase a joint adult and junior ticket. Please see guidelines below:

1, You must be 8 yrs or above on race day
2, You must have completed your chose distance twice before the event and you are comfortable with this chosen distance
3, You must be accompanied by a parent or guardian AT ALL TIMES before, during and after the race. The accompanying adult must also be officially entered for the event.
4, You must have read and understood the declaration upon booking

Can I run in bare feet?

The terrain ofthe route is a combinantion of wet sand, small areas of shingle and has some rocky sections so running trainers will be needed to take part. ORA events take no responsibility for injuries incurred.

Is it suitable for wheelchairs?

Due to the mixed terrain the routes are unfortunatly not suitable for wheelchairs.

Will there be signage?

The routes will have marshals to support you on your run and a full race briefing before each event outlining the route that should be taken. Rock 2 Rock flags and marshals will be positioned at all key points to support you on your chosen distance.

Are their prizes?

The Rock 2 Rock event is slightly different regarding prizes, the main prizes are up for grabs for anyone who crosses the line! It does matter if you are first or last, you are in for a chance to win! All you have to do is cross that line!

Gather round the main stage for the presentation to be in with a chance of taking home a prize.

Can I use electronic devices?

Although not recommended, personal stereos, IPods & mp3 players can be used at the 2023 Rock 2 Rock Event. Please read the following advice:

‘The Rock 2 Rock Team follow UKA standards and strongly advise that you DO NOT wear in ear headphones or use audio devices during the race for your own safety. However, we endorse the use of Aftershokz and similar bone conduction headphones as these provides a safe solution allowing participants to hear their surroundings as well as their music. In 2023 although NOT RECOMMENDED, there will be no disqualification for use of audio devices’.

Cyclists – Child buggies – Dogs

Accompanying cyclists in the race is not permitted due to the safety of fellow runners, beach users and the terrain. For safety reasons child buggies and dogs are not permitted to accompany runners either. The event includes loud music and fireworks so we would advise not to bring your furry friends to the event.

Is there somewhere to leave baggage?

We have a baggage area where you can leave one bag if you are running in any of the events during the evening. When you receive your Race Pack you will find a baggage sticker in your pack, simply fix to your bag and hand it to the team in the baggage area. When you return this number corresponds to your race number and they will return your bag.
